As successor to the
Mazda 323f BA Tuning series in September 1994, the series called "BA" from the dealers. Now all body styles a shortcut behind the 323 (323C:
Mazda 323f BA Tuning: Saloon, 323F: hatchback).

The design is kept at
Mazda 323f BA Tuning and very athletic, in contrast to its predecessors but very round, almost without edges. It was the first for the
Mazda 323f BA Tuning driver and front passenger airbags.

In January 1997, the
Mazda 323f BA Tuning series underwent a facelift, due to weak sales of the
323C one introduces a new three-door model called
Mazda 323f BA Tuning. Changes affect the entire interior and some of the technology. Externally, the only change is the
323S, which now shares the face with the
Mazda 323f BA Tuning. The
Mazda 323f BA Tuning is only available with the 1.5 liter engine, the
323S and
323P with 1.3 and 1.5 liter engine. The 1.7 liter TD engine is removed from the program and replaced shortly by a 2.0 liter diesel with 52 kW (71 hp) in the
323S and 323P.

1998 brings two special models of the
Mazda 323f BA Tuning with leather upholstery and the 1.5 liter engine on the market.
