1950 FORD Retro Car
The story on this car is, that my Uncle had a 49 Mercury, and his friend had this blue 50 Mercury. They liked each others car better than their own, so they swapped cars in 1951.
My Uncle lived in Omaha until the early 80's, then moved to a farm in Iowa where he built a large garage to house the Mercury and several other vehicles. Getting too old to take care of the farm and vehicles, he started selling them, and gave my brother the car, knowing my brother would take good care of it.

The car has just received a rebuilt carb, and it was hard to get it to stop leaking where the fuel line went into the rebuilt unit. Car still runs too hot, so my brother thinks the radiator may need to be rebuilt... possibly clogged? Car is still all original.. paint, interior, and drive train. Seats were kept covered so interior is in very good condition.

Paint has no natural shine left. We tried some rubbing compound which did nothing. My brother gave it several coats of wax, and managed to get it to look as good as you see it here. Gas tank has a factory drain plug, which we did remove to make sure the tank was clean. Would be a nice feature if cars still had this.

Only has a few minor dents, about five dents in the chrome trim, which could be removed by a good chrome shop. A few small dents in the hood, maybe hail? We tried pounding out one dime sized dent in the hood, and the sheet metal is so hard, the dent would not flatten with the body tools we had.
