2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7
At
the 2013 Detroit Auto Show (North American International Auto Show),
Chevrolet has introduced the next generation
C7 Corvette model. It is
hard to believe that the original
Corvette made its reveal almost 60
years ago. This introduction of the
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 makes a nice 60th birthday
present. This C7 model takes inspiration from the classic Stingray
designs and combines that with a more modern style. The biggest changes
are found in the headlights and tail lights which look very different
that what we are used to in modern Corvettes. The headlights look
similar to designs seen on Ferrari models and the new 2013 Dodge Viper.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7
Like
the high performance models of the past such as the ZR1 and the Z06,
this
new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 uses an aluminum frame to save weight (around 99 pounds) and
increasing rigidity by 57-percent. The weight savings, along with
direct injection, variable-valve timing and cylinder deactivation all
help to make this next
Corvette more fuel efficient and a better all
around performer. Measures we also in place to make sure that weight
distribution would be at an optimal 50/50 for this sports car.
General
Motors has not yet released the cars curb weight.

A lot of people were critical the interior of the C6 and on this new
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7
model it really looks like they took care to make big improvements. It
still looks like a
Corvette on the inside but the materials and
ergonomics look better.
Chevrolet is making two new seats optional in
this
Corvette which include a
GT (Grand Touring) type seat which is
comfortable and a Competition Sport seat, which is firmer and has more
aggressive bolstering to keep you in place. This will make both camps of
Corvette owners happy with a large group that daily drives their cars
and a large group of enthusiasts that take their cars to the track.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7
Z51
Performance Package includes a dry sump oiling system, close ratio gear
set, electronic limited slip differential. The
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 brakes, transmission and
differential make use of additional coolers. Visual details set it
apart from the standard model with a rear spoiler, one-inch larger
wheels and brake cooling ducts. The suspension features Bilstein dampers
and Magnetic Ride Control is optional. The Z51 Performance Package
would be great for anyone who will be taking their
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 to the track a
lot. The engine that will power this new model is the all new LT1 V8 that
displaces 6.2-liters and produces 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of
torque. Chevrolet is promising a zero to 60 mph time in less than four
seconds. The Transmissions available in this new Corvette Stingray will
be a Tremec seven-speed manual and an optional Hydramatic six-speed that
has been improved over the one used in the C6 despite the same model
number.Pricing of the
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 has not yet been announced but this
new Corvette
should be available sometime in the third quarter of 2013. I have to say
this car looks like the best equipped standard
2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 ever built.
