In his latest Budget announcement, chancellor George Osborne announced that current company 2014 Chevrolet Volt tax bandings are to be revised, providing a further incentive for fleet owners to buy low-emission vehicles.Current rules see all vehicles emitting 0-75g of carbon dioxide per kilometer being subject to five per cent company 2014 Chevrolet Volt tax; from 2015-16 those emitting 0-50g/km will pay five per cent and seven per cent the year after, while those producing 51-75g/km will pay nine per cent in 2015-16 and 11 per cent in 2015.

Such a difference could be a decisive factor in persuading fleet owners to take on low-emission vehicles, and the move has been welcomed by the vehicle industry. “This 2014 Chevrolet Volt decision to rethink the benefit-in-kind thresholds on low-emission company cars will ensure they remain an attractive proposition for drivers,” said John Lewis of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.
“The 2014 Chevrolet Volt market for plug-in vehicles is growing but confidence in this new technology, particularly the costs involved, remains fragile. This move will reassure thousands of potential drivers.” If fleet owners do start looking more towards hybrid vehicles, one model which should generate a lot of interest is the 2014 Chevrolet Volt. Users in the US have been reporting very positive results with their fuel economy in the 2014 Chevrolet Volt, with some traveling up to 900 miles between fill-ups, resulting in four-figure savings at the pumps. Meanwhile, in the UK, the Norfolk Fire Service has selected the Volt for its new 2014 Chevrolet Volt fleet vehicles, and as this particular service is leading the National Fire and Rescue Service work on climate change and environmental protection, it is expected that fire departments across the country will soon follow its lead.

Norfolk Fire Service’s chief fire officer explained why the 2014 Chevrolet Volt was chosen: “When looking for new ways to continue to decrease emissions, the 2014 Chevrolet Volt came through our trials process with flying colours as the best next move we could make in terms of our fleet of emergency response cars.
“It has the 2014 Chevrolet Volt carrying capacity and handling/performance characteristics we need for blue-light response, combined with energy bills that are a scale change from our current conventional vehicles, especially combined with our solar panels which will provide much of the electrical charging for the 2014 Chevrolet Volt. Being an electric hybrid, the Volt also qualifies for the government’s Plug-in Grant, which will see £5,000 cut from the purchase price of a brand-new vehicle.
