The BMW M6 E24 also known as the M635CSi, is a high performance version of the BMW 6-Series sports coupe built from 1983 to 1989. This grand touring coupe is often remembered for its elegant yet aggressive styling. BMW produced a total of 5,856 cars 1,767 of those were North American specification cars.

I really think that these old 6-Series cars are historic. The BMW M6 E24 build quality and craftsmanship can never be matched by any new model built today. This is a perfect example of a classic German grand touring coupe. Not only is the M6 a special car, but all of the BMW M6 E24 models.

The BMW M88/3 engine is the heart of the BMW M6 E24. This is a modified version of the M88/1 engine used in the exotic BMW M1 which I named as one of the Top 10 Classic German Sports Cars. This BMW M6 E24 engine is a DOHC 24-valve 3.5L inline six-cylinder engine with Kugelfischer fuel injection and individual throttle valves.

This BMW M6 E24 engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The North American Market received a catalyzed version that produces 256 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, however the uncatalyzed European version produces 286 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque. This power was good enough to propel the North American car from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and the Euro model at 6.0 seconds. The BMW M6 E24 has a top speed of 158 mph.
